Funky phonics is designed to strengthen your existing phonics programme through interactive activities that introduce or reinforce sounds. It offers a fun, practical way to revisit core phonemes and encourage children to join in. Proudly developed in Greater Manchester, Funky Phonics brings a northern voice to phonics and recognises regional differences in pronunciation.

Use the sound sessions in the same order as your chosen phonics programme to recap or reinforce sound recognition and pronunciation.

If your programme introduces s this week, you use the Funky Phonics s session. When your programme moves on to a, you use the a session, adding an engaging reinforcement without changing the teaching sequence.
